The Independent Commission on the Constitutional Future of Wales’ Final Report noted the threats and challenges to our democratic health and set out recommendations to tackle this. In response, the Deputy First Minister is establishing an Innovating Democracy Advisory Group and wishes to bring together influencers and advisors in the field of democratic innovation, participation and involvement. Applications are welcomed from candidates that reflect the diversity of Wales.

We are looking for people who are inspired to pursue effective involvement and participation for citizens, as well as exploring creative approaches to ensuring citizen voice is present in decision making at all levels of government.

We want to create a diverse Group and particularly welcome applications from all under-represented groups including lower socioeconomic backgrounds, women, people under 30 years of age, Black, Asian and minority ethnic people, disabled people, and lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people.  If you need support or adjustments in applying for this role, please contact publicappointments@gov.wales. Adjustments can also be made to support people in the role.

Members will be expected to support the Chair in delivering the remit of the group by contributing expertise, vision and experience; and work collaboratively with stakeholders.

We believe that Wales should be ambitious in creating a robust democratic culture, and this is a significant opportunity to revitalise the way that citizens interact and engage with decision-making processes.

The closing date for applications is 17 February 2025.
