The Deputy Director of Assurance and Risk will play a pivotal role in this and within the CQC. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and oversight of the organisation’s assurance, risk management, and control processes. This role ensures that the CQC operates within its regulatory framework, managing risks effectively, and maintaining robust internal controls. This role is pivotal in ensuring that service users who rely on the work of CQC can have confidence in the decisions made by CQC and its staff.
The Deputy Director will be expected to develop and lead a culture of compassion, credibility and capability.
They will also work closely with the Director of Governance, Performance and Improvement to develop and implement strategies that promote a culture of learning through continuous improvement and risk awareness across the organisation.

What you will bring...
You will be an engaging, knowledgeable and compassionate leader of people who can demonstrate that organisations are at their best when systems can be relied upon to inform strategic decision-making.
You’ll hold a relevant professional qualification in risk management, internal audit, finance, or a related field (e.g. IRM, CMIIA, ACCA, CIMA, ISO).
Skilled in the management of stakeholder relationships, you will be an exceptional communicator, politically astute, with the clear ability to motivate a team. You will have significant knowledge and demonstrable expertise in risk management, internal control, and assurance processes.
A strategic thinker, you will be analytical in your approach with the ability to translate strategic objectives into operational plans. You’ll have a proven track record of developing and implementing risk management and assurance strategies that drive organisational improvement.
You’ll have a strong ethos of inclusive team working with a focus on team and individual wellbeing, an approach of working in partnership and collaboration with stakeholders and the public and a drive to encourage improvement.
