Pay £10.90 per hour (£21,314 per annum, increasing to £23,464 in April 2024) and great benefits including Health Cash Plan

As our Support Worker, youll be at the heart of supporting our customers who have complex support needs to develop their skills to live more independently in the community. Youll be working in our properties in Gloucester, which have on-site parking and are close to the shops.

Typical day as our Support Worker

Assisting customers with practical, daily living tasks to develop their independence, helping them to achieve the goals, aspirations and outcomes documented in their support plans. 

Youll be supporting our young customers, many who are care leavers, and may have mental health issues. 

Helping customers with daily living activities such as making meals, shopping, budgeting, maintaining their tenancy and moving onto their forever home when theyre ready. 

Carrying out risk assessments, support planning, goal setting and regular reviews. 

Cuppas, chats and catch ups. Theres no rushing from one customer to the next here! Plenty of time to work together with colleagues too.

You bring

Passion to support our customers to live their best life, working together with an eye for detail   

Experience of caring for others, you may have worked in care before or have experience of caring for others such as family members or children  

The ability to work€¯on your own initiative, remain€¯calm under pressure and have€¯a resilient approach 

Recognise every customer is different and youre able to adopt a flexible, personal approach, listening to customers to understand their needs€¯  

Ideally to get from A to B, youll have a vehicle insured for business purposes. But its not a deal breaker if not, weve had colleagues who cycle, use an electric scooter or the bus!

Our team

Youll join Michelle, our service manager, whos quite new to Home Group but has been in the sector for over 30 years so she knows a thing or two about housing and working with people! Michelle used to be a DJ, across Spain and the UK so she knows her house music too! She also loves her cats and has two called Baby and Cleo. Youll also join our Young Peoples ABS team, were super passionate about what we do and are friendly supportive bunch!

Job details

Youll join the team on a rota doing early and late shifts between 7.45am to 8.15pm including some weekends too. We work as a team to be flexible though! 

Youll manage your working day, balancing your quiet time and working with customers.

Youre able to use technology to update support plans, complete online learning and to collaborate with colleagues. 

Youll need an Enhanced DBS check done and we pay for that.
