Job Description

The purpose of the role is to work closely with the Head of FP&A to increase the companys efficiency and cost-effectiveness by assisting with the formulation of the multi-year financial plan, produce value added business insight and support the organisation to help meet its objectives.  

Budgets / Multi-year Planning

Work closely with the Head of FP&A and the leadership team to help formulate their annual budgets and forecasts ensuring alignment to the strategic objectives.

Evaluate previous budgets, expenditures to help develop and implement future budgets.

Ensure all budget templates are updated and fit for purpose.

Communicate with relevant business functions on timetables & requirements.

Help complete the monthly rolling forecast and track risks & opportunities, identifying what options are available to deliver the plan.

Ensure Managing Public Money principles are being adhered to by working closely with budget holders and procurement to ensure consistently applied financial discipline

Monthly Management Accounts / MI Reports

Manage the non-staff cost base (c30% of total expenses) and communicate to budget holder the reasons behind performance and results.

Produce detailed MI reports highlighting deviation against plan and present output to key stakeholders

Update standardized reporting (financials & headcount) on time each month and provide detailed analysis and commentary on department / division results.

KPIs

Ownership of entire KPIs process (end to end) ensuring KPIs are appropriately linked to the FRC objectives and outcomes based  

Work under own initiative, identify issues and generate possible solutions

Manage the long-term strategy of integrating KPIs with Risk and PMO

Systems / Continuous Improvements

Assist with the planning systems for hierarchy changes, system upgrades / maintenance, and change requests.

Review existing processes and procedures to develop recommendations for improvement efforts.

Study Co-ordinator

Provide quality oversight to Senior Managers and ExCo on FRC students professional qualification progression

Advise and support those studying to ensure students remain on track to complete their studies within stated timeframe

Person

Qualified accountant (CIMA / ACA or ACCA).

Excellent communication skills with ability to build relationships.

Strong understanding of financial and accounting processes.

Proficient with excel and financial modelling.

Experience of using Planning system

Knowledge of Managing Public Money principles is preferred.

Good attention to detail and able to prioritise activities

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Adaptable, and flexible and working in a fast-paced environment.

Experience in business partnering with non-financial functions is preferred but not essential

Strong analytical skills and an ability to distil key messages and make recommendations from various data source.

Provide support and guidance to junior staff in the wider team as needed

Mentor / coach students that require additional support

The role is based in our central Birmingham office. The post holder should be able to work flexibly to support the teams activities and also provide cover within the FRC as necessary. The FRC operates a hybrid working arrangement with its workforce, with precise arrangements to be agreed between the employee and the line manager. FRC operates a four-day fortnight in the office.
