Job Description

Belfast or London

The Independent Commission for Reconciliation and Information Recovery (ICRIR) is an independent organisation that has been set up to provide information to victims, survivors and their families about Troubles-related deaths and serious injury and to promote reconciliation.

We are currently in the process of building the Commission and undertaking the necessary preparatory work to enable it to be operational from this summer. Critical to this will be the appointment of a permanent Chief Executive Officer who will be a member of the Board, a Commissioner and the Accounting Officer for the ICRIR. As Chair of the Executive Committee, you will play a key role in the development of the Commission, with responsibility for ensuring that it runs efficiently and effectively, discharging its functions in line with all legal requirements and providing inspirational and motivational leadership to a dedicated team of people, working together to deliver the Commission’s mission.

You will bring a track record of providing operational, cultural and strategic board level leadership to a complex organisation, ideally bringing experience and insight  from a start-up situation. You will be an exceptional strategic thinker, able to inform the strategy for the Commission, shape and deliver its operations, and with the ability to influence and build effective relationships with stakeholders across the public, private and voluntary sectors in Northern Ireland and Great Britain. Your ability to create a well-motivated, dynamic team which is committed to our mission will be the cornerstone for success in this role.

We are building a values-led organisation. We operate with integrity, impartiality, openness, accountability and respect, as set out in our Code of Conduct. This is reflected in our fair and open recruitment processes. We encourage people to join us across all backgrounds, communities and faiths to help us carry out our work.

The Commission will be based in Belfast and further operational sites in Northern Ireland and London. Travel to all locations will be required, but hybrid working arrangements will help us support a range of flexible working patterns.

This is an outstanding opportunity to join an organisation with a unique and vital remit. To find out more and to apply, please click Apply.
