Job Description

About us

Bridge House Estates (BHE) is a 900-year old historic charity of which the City of London Corporation is Trustee. BHE has remained vital to London over the years and today its primary purpose is to maintain and support five of London’s most iconic Thames Bridges. During the past 25 years, our vision has expanded to tackle social and economic divides across the capital. Today we still maintain our bridges, but via our funding team, publicly known as the ‘City Bridge Trust’, we distribute over £25m each year to support other charitable causes. Collaborating with civil society, foundations, policy makers and businesses, we harness the combined experience of local communities and partners to build a fairer, more inclusive London.

This is an exciting year for City Bridge Trust as we launch some major new funding initiatives with partners, in line with our vision and mission to reduce inequality and grow stronger, more resilient and thriving communities for a London that serves everyone.

The role

Working closely with Director of Communications and Engagement and the Funding Team, you will play a key role in ensuring all new funding programmes and initiatives are clearly and engagingly communicated and reach the right target audiences. Often working in collaboration with external funding partners, you will ensure the City Bridge Trust brand and profile are properly represented and that all communications meet with our values and commitment to be inclusive and speak to the diversity of London.

Essential requirements:

Educated to at least degree level or equivalent OR experience of working in a strategic communications role in a relevant sector.

An excellent knowledge of not-for-profit communications and able to spot a great story

Significant experience of developing and delivering communications campaigns and projects in a complex organisation, and with multiple external stakeholders.

Experience in working with brand development, media and PR.

Understanding of issues of diversity, equity and inclusion.

You must be able to demonstrate:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to develop and deliver engaging internal and external communications.

A significant level of political and societal awareness

Excellent interpersonal skills

Ability to work inclusively and collaboratively across several stakeholder groups to achieve positive outcomes.

The closing date for applications is 12 Noon, 11 July 2022.

Alternatively, please contact 020 7332 3978 (24-hour answerphone) quoting reference number OOTC1038 if you experience any problems. A minicom service for the hearing impaired available on 020 7332 3732.
