Public Leaders of the Future & Near Ready Leadership Programmes

With the aim of increasing representation of Public Boards, the Welsh Government are running two Public Leaders of the Future Programmes in 2022 aimed specifically at leaders in Wales who are Disabled People and/or Individuals from ethnic minority communities.

The Public Appointments of the Future Programme has been designed following the Ministerial objective to increase diversity on Public Body Boards, aligned with the strategy set out in ‘Reflecting and Running Wales - Diversity & Inclusion Strategy for Public Appointments in Wales’.

The goal of the programme is to create a robust pipeline of potential public body board members. The training will provide a programme for Public Leaders of the Future, specifically for disabled people and people from ethnic minority communities who are interested in obtaining a public appointment but who do not yet have the necessary skills and experience to apply.

Start your journey today to gain a greater understanding of the role of a committee member of a Public Body and learn how you can utilise your tangible skills to influence and guide public services in Wales.

The programme aims to provide participants with:

An understanding of Public appointments in Wales and the logistics and dynamics of Board meetings.

An opportunity to be matched with a mentor and or/shadow a Public Appointee.

Practical help and guidance on how to apply for a public appointment and other roles, and how to prepare for an interview.

An understanding of how to influence and challenge others appropriately.

Spaces on the programmes are limited, if you would like to apply for a space please register via the link below:
