Job Description

Transport and Environment

Permanent

Ref: LC803

Want to play your part in shaping policy in London?

Do you want to help London boroughs respond to their environmental and transport challenges? Do you want to drive investment in London’s future mobility, active and public transport infrastructure, find solutions to London’s air quality crisis, the climate change challenge and develop creative and collective approaches to issues such as waste management and flooding? These are significant challenges, that will in turn present opportunities for you to shape service delivery approaches and leave your mark on the London transport and environment landscape.

We are looking for a highly motivated person with enthusiasm, innovative ideas and the ability to work flexibly and collaboratively in a dynamic and quickly changing policy environment.

It is desirable for you to have experience of contributing to policy development in either transport or environment policy areas.

The role will require that you analyse policy and data and you will apply this analysis for better policy development to improve results for Londoners. You will also make London’s case to central government and a range of other, critical partners in London local government and beyond. This will require you to build effective relationships across sectors, communicate, negotiate and influence a diverse range of stakeholders, as well as having experience of creative problem solving and managing a varied workload of projects in a pressurised environment.

London Councils represents the 32 boroughs and the City of London. We aim to get the best deal for Londoners and to ensure that London’s councils have the resources, freedoms and powers to do the best possible job for their residents and local businesses. We also run a number of services on behalf of the boroughs including the Freedom Pass, Taxicard and Health Emergency Badge.

Closing date for applications: 31 January 2022 at 12 Noon.

Interview Dates: 7 February 2022.

Alternatively, please contact 020 7332 3978 (24-hour Answer phone) quoting reference number LC803 if you experience any problems. A minicom service for the hearing impaired available on 020 7332 3732.
