Job Description

Remuneration  £12,638 per annum for minimum 4-5 days a month

Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust specialises in the provision of Mental Health, Substance Misuse, wider specialist services such as eating disorders, as well as Children’s Universal and Learning Disability services across the county. Rated ‘Good’ by the CQC, ‘People First’ is central to delivering our vision to make a positive difference in people’s lives through improving their health and well-being.  Nationally recognised for our innovative inclusion initiatives, we are committed to ensuring equality, diversity, inclusion, and human rights are central to the way we deliver outstanding healthcare services to our service users and how we support and empower our staff.

We are now seeking a new values-led Non Executive Director to add to the skills and experiences of our diverse Board and our dedicated Council of Governors, at a critical time for our population’s health and well-being.  We have a ‘people first’ culture at Derbyshire Healthcare, and so we require someone who is comfortable engaging with staff and service users and supporting our role as a shaper of successful integrated care - working with partners across Derbyshire to improve the lives of our population. We are a central partner in Derbyshire’s Integrated Care System ‘Joined up Care Derbyshire’, working to provide the best care and services as efficiently and effectively as possible.

We are keen to appoint a Non-Executive Director who brings a deep understanding of the wider determinants of health and wellbeing and experience of working in leadership roles in anchor institutions or organisations who partner with them.  We welcome interest from inclusive leaders with broad Board or equivalent level experience in diverse and complex, person-centred organisations including, but not limited to, local authorities, third or voluntary sectors or higher education. We are also interested in people who bring particular experience in complex programme management.

Sharing our focus on cultural development, you will be an authentic collaborator and communicator who will quickly build credibility and create high aspiration in our dedicated staff, Governors, partners, service users, carers, and the diverse populations we serve. Promoting the highest standards of integrity and corporate governance you will offer informed and independent challenge as well as a high degree of support to our Board.  Your proactive and progressive approach will enable us to work across organisational boundaries and continue to raise the profile of our services, services users and carers on a local, regional and national platform.

This is a unique opportunity to directly impact on reducing health inequalities and to work with an inclusive Board who value diversity and difference.
