Job Description

Non-Executive Directors x3

Remuneration: £13,000 per annum – commitment of 3-4 days per month

Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust provides a wide range of inpatient and community-based mental health care to people living in Bolton, Wigan, the city of Manchester, Salford and Trafford and a wide range of specialist mental health and substance misuse services across Greater Manchester and beyond.  We employ around 6,400 members of staff ,  have £415 million annual income and deliver services from more than 160 locations, including five hospital sites, many community facilities and prisons.  Recognised nationally as a high performing provider with a CQC rating of GOOD, we work extensively with our partners across the Greater Manchester Integrated Care System. Promoting parity of esteem for mental health with physical health, we are shifting the focus to prevention, early intervention, and resilience in communities, to deliver a sustainable and integrated mental health system across the region as part of the wider GM strategy to address health inequalities and transform population health.

We have an exciting opportunity for three talented leaders to join our high-performing board. As a non-executive member of our unitary Board  you will provide independence, scrutiny, strong governance, risk management and strategic leadership. We have a particular interest for one of the roles in those with a financial background and for the other two, we are keen to hear from those who have senior management or board level experience in one or more of the following areas: Primary Care; Workforce Planning and Development; Equality, Diversity and Inclusion; Strategic Estates management and Digital Innovation. Previous NHS and/or Non-Executive experience are not essential; we are open to hearing from a wide range of candidates and we would welcome applications from candidates with protected characteristics or lived experience of our services.

For all appointments we will be seeking inspirational leaders who bring a commitment to our values, positive energy, and fresh thinking.  Challenging and supporting our committed Board, you will play a vital role in shaping our successful future at a critical time for our workforce and the population we serve as we continue to respond and adapt to the effects of COVID-19, develop ways of working in the evolving GM Integrated Care System and continue to implement the NHS Long Term Plan.

These are excellent opportunities to use your skills and experience to make a difference to the lives of people across the region and we warmly encourage applications from people of all backgrounds to improve the diversity of our board and provide a fresh and different perspective to our strategic decision making.

If you have the energy and passion to take one of these dynamic roles and you share our values and commitment to our service users, carers, staff and partners, then we’d love to hear from you.
