Job Description

We want to recruit a confident, friendly and highly-motivated parliamentary officer to join our communications team.

You will have a background in parliamentary affairs with knowledge of, and a passion for, local government and public service reform.

To work effectively for a cross-party organisation where all three major parties have a say, you will need the ability to implement a range of parliamentary lobbying and influencing techniques.

This is an opportunity to work in a prominent London-wide role. Exceptional written and oral communication skills are essential, as is a commitment to London and its people.

You will need to be a team player and be confident talking to colleagues and stakeholders at all levels.

The job includes research and writing plus daily contact with London’s Parliamentarians and their staff, as well as a leading role in the Secretariat for the APPG for London.

Members of this team are currently working remotely, following government guidance. In the future we may embrace more hybrid working, combining office and remote working.

London Councils represents the 32 boroughs and the City of London. We aim to get the best deal for Londoners and to ensure that London’s boroughs have the resources, freedoms and powers to do the best possible job for their residents and local businesses.

We also run a number of services on behalf of the boroughs including the Freedom Pass, Taxicard and Health Emergency Badge.
