Job Description

Head of Corporate Finance (30 – 37.5 hours p/week) – Bristol / London / Remote

Triodos Bank is one of Europe’s leading sustainable banks, whose mission is to make money work for positive social, environmental, and cultural change. This is an exciting opportunity for a new Head of Corporate Finance to lead our team of Corporate Finance specialists who provide lead advisory services to impact driven organisations.

The Corporate Finance team has raised over £180m of risk capital across 78 transactions in the last 15 years, including many innovative, pioneering and nationally leading projects. In 2018, we were the first UK bank to launch our own investment crowdfunding platform and all investments promoted on the crowdfunding platform are structured by the Corporate Finance team.

Responsibilities

> Leadership of the Corporate Finance team including responsibility for its operational and financial performance

> Leading the strategy for business development activity – including initiating marketing ideas, networking with known deal multipliers and originating leads

> Preparation and presentation of a strategy and annual business plan for the department

> Leading new product development and monitoring and improving internal processes

> Building and maintaining the profile of the Triodos Corporate Finance team and its activities with potential clients and investors, other professionals, and multipliers within the UK corporate finance community

> Attending and speaking at conferences and events to raise the profile of Triodos generally and the activities of the Corporate Finance team in particular

> Ensuring the quality of all corporate finance mandates on behalf of clients from engagement through to completion

> Participating in the Approval Committee that decides on offers promoted via Triodos’ crowdfunding platform

> Management of all regulatory and commercial risks associated with the team and its activities

> Working closely with the Investor Relations function within the Corporate Finance team to develop the investor base, ensuring that investment products are marketed successfully to this group

> Maintaining clear systems for relationship management with both existing clients and investors including adhering to internal policies, procedures and processes and management of conflicts of interest and dispute resolution

> Keeping abreast of sector news – including new developments, policy changes and players in the sector

> Complying with all regulatory obligations and internal governance to help ensure ethical behaviour which delivers fair outcomes for TBUK customers

The Corporate Finance function works independently of the bank’s lending and project finance activities, with a framework and controls in place to manage conflicts. However, as part of the wider Business Banking function the team will deliver business development and thought leadership in an integrated way to fulfil the bank’s mission and business plans.

Triodos Bank is proud of its culture, ethos, and ability to make a positive change in society. It is important that candidates evidence a strong commitment to Triodos Bank’s core values of ethical sustainability and transparency, as well as the personal qualities to live these values. The successful candidate will operate with the highest integrity; demonstrate a deep understanding of the mission of Triodos Bank and willingness to take responsibility for safeguarding, representing, and contributing to the development of that mission.

To be successful in this role, you will possess significant senior level experience in all transactional aspects of corporate finance lead advisory work, including capital raising, valuations and investment structuring across a wide range of sectors. A proven track record originating both client and strategic partnership relationships at a senior level, whilst retaining astute business judgement. Proven experience of developing and implementing strategy.

As a senior manager of TBUK, you will motivate and inspire your team, supporting them to be successful, taking an inclusive approach in their actions and decision making. You will display a growth mindset, taking responsibility for your own development and encouraging the same from your team. Expertise and the ability to discuss and present opinions on a wide range of sustainability areas - including sectors and financing – to a variety of audiences including the press, will be required.
