Delivering support with a difference. That’s when it hits home

We have a hugely rewarding opportunity for you to join our Transforming Care team in Kent. You will be helping our brilliant customer to live a fulfilling life in their own home and within the local community.

You will be supporting our customer who is a vulnerable young gentleman with complex needs and challenging behaviours. These include Autism, ASD and ADHD and he is looking for a patient team to support him in his daily living activities. He has a wide range of interests from playing sports and Just Dance on the Wii to listening to rap and hip-hop music, so if you’re a fellow Snoop Dogg fan you’ll get on like a house on fire. He also really enjoys hot chocolate, playing pool and table tennis and going to theme parks.

You’ll be trained to support our customer’s mental and physical wellbeing and to take positive risks to enable his successful journey. If required (and only as a last resort), you may need to use physical intervention and we will provide you with training and support to do this safely.

Where and when you’ll work

We are building a team to work in our customers own home in Canterbury, as well as working with him when he is out and about in the wider community. You will be part of a team that we are building to support his needs and together with your Team Leader and Deputy Manager, you will be assisting him to enjoy the best quality of life and live as independently as possible.

We will be working with him on a 24/7 basis, so you need to be aware that you’ll be working shifts on a rota basis covering days, evenings, waking nights and sleep ins, whilst taking your turn working weekends and bank holidays.

We need you to be flexible to meet their support needs, but we will be flexible too to find and agree a working pattern that suits all our needs.

You’ll be joining Home Groups wider Kent transforming care teams (we have bases in Gravesend, Snodland, Broadstairs, Ashford and Rainham), and you may be asked to support our other customers as and when there is a requirement.

About you

You’re passionate and motivated and will impress us with your ability to work on your own initiative, positively influencing our customer to work towards his goals and aspirations. You’ll also be willing to provide personal care when required, so some experience in physical assistance to help wash, (shower or bath) dress, and oral care is also highly desirable.

It’s important that you have experience in safeguarding, risk assessments, confidentiality and daily care plans. We’d also love for you to hold your Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent or be willing to work toward obtaining this.

While experience and skills are important, none of these matter without the right attitude, energy and approach. If you think you fit the bill, then we would welcome your application. We can nurture your talent, just let us know in your cover letter why you have a passion for working here and explain in detail how you meet the criteria. Don’t worry, we won’t drop you in the deep end, we’ll help you to understand how things work at Home Group!

It would also be amazing if you drive and have access to a vehicle (we do pay your expenses to cover this use!), but it's not a deal breaker if you don't!

When you join, you’ll need to have a valid Enhanced Check under the Disclosure and Barring Service. The great news is that we will pay for that to be done if you don’t have a transferrable one.
