About the role
Join our Data Capture and Engineering team as a Data Engineer and help support the development of our next generation geospatial editing software,
Using ESRI client-side technologies (primarily ArcGIS Arcade, a ‘JavaScript like’ scripting language) you will develop, support, and maintain rules that guide our teams of surveyors, as they capture and edit Ordnance Survey’s large-scale data.
Working in a forward-thinking agile environment, this role will challenge you to develop rules-based solutions for our Operations team. You will have a logical approach to analysing and interpreting requirements, enabling you to apply your knowledge and solve complex problems to effectively control the capture of geospatial data.
Your team will look to you for technical coaching and mentoring, as you work together to develop and deliver rules that are logical, robust, efficient, performant, maintainable and supportable.
What we’re looking for
If you’re interested in joining a team that lies at the heart of what OS is about, we’re looking for someone that can demonstrate skills and experience in:
Working with complex Geospatial data and a logical approach to problem solving
Proven track record in software engineering – one or more languages (such as JavaScript, C# or Python)
Advocating software engineering industry best practice
Knowledge of data structures and experience querying databases
Track record in developing and delivering production ready components
Good knowledge of testing approaches and best practice
Providing technical coaching and mentoring
Interpreting detailed specifications and translating into simple solutions
Desirable:
Training in ArcGIS Arcade will be provided, however experience using JavaScript or ArcGIS Arcade would be highly advantageous
