Job Description

About the role

Imagine a job where what you do is valued over when or where you do it; where you can use your technical capabilities and leadership skills to evolve the engineering architecture of the business, and where you can grow and broaden your own skillset in a co-operative and nurturing environment.

By joining our expanding Technology and Design team, you will benefit from collaboration with the brightest minds in OS – some of the best experts in the field. Working with stakeholders from across the organisation, you will collaborate closely with delivery teams in both the definition and realisation of architectural solutions.

A varied role where you will work together to meet business objectives and be accountable for ensuring that the design and development of those solutions are sustainable and fit-for-purpose for current and future OS business need. Using the latest innovations in cloud and from SaaS providers, to meet business and customer needs.

What we’re looking for

If you’re interested in joining a team that lies at the heart of what OS is about, we’re looking for someone that can demonstrate technical skills and experience in:

Defining the architecture for solutions that leverage the full range of capability found in public cloud platforms (Microsoft Azure preferred) and on-premise systems

Experience of delivering solutions through to go-live and beyond

Knowledge of industry best practices for architecture, Agile delivery processes and lifecycles

Above all, we are looking for someone that is a team player; with the ability to:

Collaborate with and provide technical direction to software delivery and operational teams

Develop stakeholder relationships and influence people across the business at all levels

Be an effective communicator

It would be advantageous to have exposure to architecting systems using one or more of the following:

Microsoft Azure Platform including compute services (IaaS, app services, etc), identity (Azure AD, Azure AD B2C, etc), storage services and data management (PostgreSQL, Azure SQL, etc)

Building secure cloud-native architectures

Software-defined networking, security, load-balancing, firewalls, etc

Containerisation and AKS

Data Analytics and Machine Learning technologies, especially in Azure

Scaling IaaS-based applications

Other related experience on-premise or in-cloud

Experience in the geospatial domain

Any relevant architectural qualifications (Microsoft certification, TOGAF, etc)

The rewards

We want you to love what you do. That’s why our benefits package rewards a job well done. We’ll give you:

Salary: £53,754 - £63,240

Performance related bonus

A competitive pension scheme

25 days annual leave - (30 days after five years) bank holidays and an extra 3 over Christmas

Plus, a suite of excellent additional benefits

At OS we embrace flexible working and can consider different working hours dependent on the role and your personal circumstances.

Location

OSHQ is based in Southampton, Hampshire but at OS we believe work is something you do, not somewhere you go. We embrace a hybrid working model where we believe the choice is with the individual on when they work from our fantastic office or from home. We want to continue to be an inclusive employer and recognise that one size doesn’t necessarily fit all.
