Job Description

About the role 

Be part of our Data Capture and Engineering team as a Test Engineer and work to develop the next generation systems, that drive our world-leading geospatial and business applications. You’ll be highly motivated, technical and analytical, whilst working within an agile team.

A varied role where you will be responsible for designing and driving out automated tests, executing manual test suites to ensure adequate and effective test coverage. Provide test assurance of the user stories according to the defined acceptance test criteria; whilst working in a test-first environment using cloud architecture.

Work closely with Software Engineers to deliver the test activities to meet the functional and non-functional requirements and ambitions of our stakeholders. You will regularly participate in estimation activities and are encouraged to identify opportunities to maximise test benefit within the team.

You will report to and provide regular updates to the domain Test Lead; providing assurance at team retrospectives and planning sessions to ensure test best practice, continual improvements and appropriate standards are adhered to.

What we are looking for 

If you are interested in joining a team that lies at the heart of what OS is about, we are looking for someone that can demonstrate skills and experience in:

·        Ability to design and write test harnesses in Python from scratch.

·        Experience in configuring and launching REST api’s.

·        Experience of automating tests/configuring pipelines in a test-first CI/CD environment.

·        Experience in Data technologies and/or ETL techniques

·        Experience of Cloud technologies and testing within that environment.

·        Experience of designing and implementing tests around functional test activities using TDD/BDD.

·        Experience of designing and implementing tests around non-functional test activities using TDD/BDD.

·        Experience in agile methodologies and working closely with engineers.

·        The ability to allocate and prioritise your own work.

·        Qualified to Foundation Level in Software Testing (or equivalent)

Experience in any the following areas would be advantageous:

·        Experience of C#

·        Knowledge of Microsoft Azure DevOps and the Azure Cloud Portal

·        Knowledge or experience with machine learning

·        Ability to write PowerShell scripts.

·        Awareness of geospatial systems and technologies
