Job Description

Regulatory Policy Executives x 2 maternity cover contract up to 12 months, open to flexible working

Salary: £40,310 Start date: ASAP

We support flexible working, particularly as we move out of the pandemic and are open to considering applications from individuals who wish to work on a more flexible basis.

The Advertising Standards Authority is the independent, self-regulatory body for advertising in the UK and works to ensure that advertisements are legal, decent, honest and truthful. Our work includes acting on and investigating complaints as well as proactively monitoring and taking action against misleading, harmful or offensive advertisements, sales promotions and direct marketing.

We are seeking applications from enthusiastic candidates, who are looking for a challenge and enjoy working autonomously on long-term projects.  You will plan, consult on and implement changes to the Advertising Codes that the ASA enforces.  The job involves working with stakeholders in industry, civil society and government to develop proportionate and targeted rules to regulate specific practices and sectors.  Additionally, you will be responsible for advising colleagues, media owners and advertisers on interpretation of the Codes.

To be successful in this role you will be flexible and able to manage your time successfully, as well as being able to conduct desk research, assimilate complex information and provide cogent and concise written analysis to tight deadlines.  You must have an ability to collaborate effectively and develop strong relationships with colleagues and stakeholders alike. Good communication and presentation skills are also essential, since the role entails reporting to decision-makers on potential changes as well as training industry practitioners on the rules. Some experience of working within committee processes would also be beneficial.
