Our vision is safe, effective and kind nursing and midwifery that improves everyones health and wellbeing. As the professional regulator of more than 700,000 nursing and midwifery professionals, we have an important role to play in making this a reality.
Our core role is to regulate. First, we promote high professional standards for nurses and midwives across the UK, and nursing associates in England. Second, we maintain the register of professionals eligible to practise. Third, we investigate when nursing or midwifery care goes wrong something that affects less than one percent of professionals each year.
To regulate well, we support our professions and the public. We create resources and guidance that are useful throughout peoples careers, helping them to deliver our standards in practice and address new challenges. We also support people involved in our investigations, and were increasing our visibility so people feel engaged and empowered to shape our work.
Regulating and supporting our professions allows us to influence health and social care. We share intelligence from our regulatory activities and work with our partners to support workforce planning and sector-wide decision making. We use our voice to speak up for a healthy and inclusive working environment for our professions.
About the role
In 2018, we embarked on our Modernisation of Technology Services programme (MOTS), aiming to replace the legacy systems for the register of nurses and midwives and the system for fitness to practise case management with Microsoft Dynamics 365.
The vision for the MOTS programme is to deliver a big step forward in our digital technology to make it easier for people to connect with us and NMC colleagues to do their jobs. This will create the foundations to transform the experience of those who interact with us and help us deliver safe, effective and kind nursing and midwifery practice, improving everyones health and wellbeing.
This role is to lead and manage the successful delivery of this change programme. A full-time programme manager (12-month fixed term contract) is required to work with the business and key delivery suppliers to enable an effective transition to the new system and ways of working.
We are looking to recruit a high calibre, high performing, business focussed, programme manager to lead the transition and implementation of this critical programme. You will be responsible for:
the successful delivery of the programme outcomes, within agreed budget and tolerances, enabling the realisation of required benefits;
ensuring that change is seamlessly embedded into business operations;
leading a large team to deliver the different strands of the programme to meet business requirements
working with the central Corporate change PMO Team apply appropriate programme governance and agile delivery standards.
Development of the business case to progress to the next phase of the programme, replacing our Fitness to Practice case management system
You will be a dynamic programme manager with substantial proven experience of formulating and leading complex IT programmes. You will have:
Understanding of the challenges of a complex change programme
MSP practitioner level qualified or equivalent experience, plus ability to implement a hybrid way of working through an agile methodology within delivery teams, whilst also maintaining scope, budget and timescales.
Previous experience of delivering strategic priorities within an ever changing environment and system changes
Experience of influencing at a senior level in a high profile and complex environment; skills in understanding and responding to different perspectives and taking a cross-organisational approach
Able to lead large scale business change through the effective management and direction of third party suppliers
