Job Description

Co-op Homes provides expert housing management services to 30 affiliated housing co-operatives and other small, resident-led housing organisations, helping them to retain their independence. We are also a registered provider of social housing in our own right, owning and managing some 300 properties and managing some 5 short life properties leased to us by local authorities and other landlords.

We are an independent organisation operating as part of the larger RHP Group, which owns and manages some 9,000 properties in South West London. Our success is linked to our commitment to our grass-roots model. Our work as a provider of services to small resident-led housing organisations and as landlord is always about providing excellent, personalised services. The efforts of our affiliated organisations, staff and Board make a difference to the lives people across Greater London and the Thames Valley.

Having modernised the business to release capacity we are entering a new phase of activity; as well as maintaining our excellent standards we want to build new homes for customer groups currently excluded from the housing offer and deliver housing management services to a wider range of organisations.

For the position of Chair of the Board you will need to be committed to our mission and grassroots approach, understand the challenges of affordable house provision in London and the Thames Valley and have significant senior executive or non-executive experience. You will need to bring a dynamic, innovative and collaborative approach, and have good knowledge of how to lead the Board in a group structure.

Our approach to diversity supports everything else we are committed to do and we expect all our Board members to demonstrate a personal commitment to diversity. We are keen to increase the diversity of our Board as our Board needs to be diverse as our colleagues and the people we serve. To this end, we want to encourage applications from potential Chairs who understand the challenges and opportunities of making equality, diversity and inclusion a reality in all aspects of our business.
