Were looking for an experienced Landscape Architect to join our National Environmental Assessment and Sustainability (NEAS) team to provide the support required to deliver innovative, cost-effective environmental outcomes for major water management infrastructure projects.  You should have sound knowledge and experience of landscape planning, design and construction, green infrastructure and of strategic landscape approaches for developing and delivering multiple environmental and social benefits. You will help develop a landscape visioning based approach as an important part of your work.

You will play an important role in helping the Environment Agency reduce flood risk to homes and business, you will help drive the commitment to Biodiversity Net Gain and reduction in carbon within our projects. You will have effective communication and influencing skills and be able to work as a key adviser within and to project teams. You will work within a team of dedicated heritage, SEA and EIA expert advisers who make an important contribution to the planning and delivery of our projects and programmes in the South East. 

The support provided will ensure we consider the effects of our works on the landscape by working in collaboration with our suppliers and external consultees to obtain the relevant consents and agreements, and by securing appropriate mitigation and environmental improvements to ensure that our projects create a better place for people and wildlife. You will also form a key member of a wider €œvirtual team€ of landscape architects in other NEAS teams based elsewhere in England.

Your work will include defining the scope, developing programmes of work, input to procurement, bid evaluation and quality assuring landscape and environmental design consultancy work.

Youll be qualified to graduate standard (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline and be a Chartered Member of the Landscape Institute with relevant professional experience.

The post is a permanent contract with the Environment Agency. Whilst advertised as a full time position, please note that we encourage applications from those who may only wish to work part-time. The posts will involve working across a geographical Unit and also require working with technical colleagues in other Units.
