We have fabulous opportunity for you to join our really awesome team as a Housing Manager. Your role in a nutshell is to make our customers happy! Its not just about providing our customers with a home, its about building relationships with them. This means that when it comes to those situations that are a bit difficult or tricky (which do happen from time to time) that we make it easier to deal with.

Yes, we collect rent, chase arrears, let empty properties, manage estates and deal with anti-social behaviour. But its so much more than that. Its also about working closely with our colleagues to make sure that where our customers need support, that we help them to live their best lives!

About our team

To us were not just a team were a ‘work family. Our Operations Manager is Nic Davey who has a vast amount of experience and loves getting muddy at Music festivals. Were looking forward to you joining our team of 7, and we dont just love to support our customers, were there for each other too! 

The Essex Housing team is made up of three Housing Managers, one Community Housing Assistant & two Housing Apprentices.

You will be managing your own community patch within East Essex area and have the flexibility of working either from home or in one of our local offices. The great news is that well give you the kit to make that easy.

Working hours

As a team were critical to supporting our customers. The working week will be 9.00am to 5:30pm Monday to Friday. The good news is that you will have a degree of flexibility, as its the teams unwritten rule that you attend the important appointments in life. So, whether its your childs school play, your partners graduation, or to get your new fridge delivered well work with you in what matters. Our focus is on getting the job done, not your working hours!

About you

Youll have previous experience of working within housing and a housing management role. You will be responsible for carrying out generic Housing Management activities including arrears, void management, estate management, customer involvement, income management, lettings and other related tasks.  You'll also need an understanding of housing, neighbourhood management, housing law, universal credit, welfare benefits and how this relates to the work of a Registered Provider.

You will continuously improve services to meet challenging targets and obtain best value for customers, working in partnership with stakeholders, external partners and colleagues.  You will also signpost our customers to our varied access channels within the contact centre, improving their access to our range of services.

You'll have a proven passion for delivering excellent customer service and a genuine desire to help our customers.  You will demonstrate effective relationship, negotiation, conflict resolutions skills and the ability to self-manage and prioritise. 

Here at Home Group we have invested heavily in our future and use current and up to date equipment. Youll be issued with the latest kit, which could include a Surface Pro and mobile. So it's really important to us that you are technologically savvy (or at the very least not a technophobe!)

As this is a Mobile working and community-based role, you need to be able to drive, as well as having access to a vehicle insured for business purposes. Dont worry, well pay you expenses to cover this use!

When you join, youll need to have a valid Standard Check under the Disclosure and Barring Service. The great news is that we will pay for that to be done if you dont have a transferrable one.
