Were currently recruiting for Head of Information Security Operations to join Phoenix Group to lead the department responsible for ensuring the 24x7 effective operations of our key Information Security controls and to ensure these continue to evolve to meet our rapidly evolving business needs and risk landscape. The role will report directly to the Chief Information Security Officer.

Key Responsibilities

Set and communicate direction for the area to ensure that our operational security services and systems are effective in managing the risks we face.

Deploy resources within the department to ensure they are focussed where they can add most value to meet business needs.

Build and maintain relationships with strategic partners at senior level to ensure maximum contribution from partner organisations.

Actively recruit, lead, develop, coach and mentor a team to maximise performance and engagement and ensure employees are fairly rewarded.

Ensure services and systems are designed, developed and maintained to operate at maximum efficiency and with maximum return on investment.

Ensure provision of high-quality services to the business that meets with the relevant professional and Group standards, controls and governance to maintain business confidence.

Influence the business (including Executive) on the delivery, costs, availability and functionality of services and systems, to ensure that Information Security operations is fully considered as part of setting business strategy.

Sponsor programmes of work as necessary to ensure these remain aligned with organisational strategy.

Maintaining a strong commercial focus at all times to ensure maximum return on IT investment.

Addressing an increasing demand for increased operational security services within agreed budgets and resource pools.

Meeting an increasingly 24x7 demand for services providing service around the clock support to keep our systems operating and our response to incidents timely.

Maintaining up to date technical and market knowledge in a constantly changing industry.

Effectively managing conflicting views and interests across organisational and cultural boundaries.

Reports to the Group Chief Information Security Officer.

Direct budget management responsibilities for a people, services and technology budget of up to £10m.

Manages a department of up to 30 people through a small team of direct reports.

Significant degree of autonomy in decision making and setting direction.

 

What Were Looking For

Essential

Strong background in operational services and technologies in Information Security.

Experience of security operations/services across a variety of on-premises, third party and cloud services.

Excellent people leadership and supplier management skills.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Comfortable managing stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.

Desirable

Experience of integration of disparate Information Security processes and tools.

Experience operating in a regulated Financial Services environment.

Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or equivalent.
