Flexible hours and shifts

Making a big difference supporting our customer.  Thats when it hits home.

Its critical we continue to deliver services for our customers during the COVID-19 outbreak, and our awesome colleagues are at the very heart of making that happen. We need Brilliant People like you to join us. We're doing things a little differently at the moment, so to keep you, our customers and ourselves safe well engage with you digitally.

Have you been looking to earn some extra cash, whilst having flexibility to keep to your current commitments? Now you can! Whats more, youll be making a big difference! This is an exciting time to join us, were one of the UKs largest Housing providers (and 10thbest place to work in the UK did you know? Super Large organisations). Youll be supporting our amazing customers as part of our flexible bank, picking and choosing the shifts you want to work.

Youll be joining our Transforming Care team on our flexible bank, supporting our brilliant customers to live a fulfilling life in their own home within the local community.  Our team support our customers who have complex presentations, which may include, learning disabilities, mental health issues, autism and communication differences, alongside ongoing physical health conditions. They may also have a forensic background and potential to display behaviours of concern.

Where youll work

With flexibility in the hours and days that you want to work, youll work primarily with two wonderful, yet complex young men who are brothers and in fact twins in their own home in Birmingham, as well as supporting them in the community. But there may also be opportunities to work with our other customers in Birmingham! Our customers are autistic and love spending time indoors and outdoors doing the things they enjoy and are important to them. They have sensory processing difficulties and often seek out sensory feedback to help them regulate their emotions including playing music, exposure to running water, seeking out and repeating movements that are purposeful for them and other activities individual to both young men. This could be walking in the park with carers, enjoying the experience of being in a swimming pool or going out for a supported drive in the countryside.

Understanding how these fantastic young men respond to sensory messages is important to be aware of, as sometimes sounds and smells as well as touch can feel different for them and be over stimulating or something that they seek out.

There is lots for you to do and get involved in, from supporting them to achieve their hopes and aspirations, working to bespoke care plans. Youll go home each day knowing that youve made an amazing difference, how amazing is that!  Youll help coordinate activities and experiences meaningful to them and for them, so that they can participate in their favourite things as well as trying out new things that have been identified as aspirations for the future.  Some of our customers also have more complex needs which may include support with personal care.

How it works

Working on our bank, youll be able to pick and choose your shifts that you can work from those available in your area. You can do this on the go via your mobile!

About our team

Youll be working alongside our fabulous team of Support Workers, Team Leaders and Clinical colleagues who are super passionate about supporting our customer to reach his goals and celebrate his achievements.  Youll report to Deb our Registered Manager who has worked for Home Group for 5 years.  Deb has loads of experience in working with customers with both mental health and learning disabilities. Deb has a clinical background in nursing and was an accredited psychotherapist in a previous life before joining Home Group (clever we know!).  Outside of work youll find her supporting her local football team, spending quality time with her family and just loves cooking for friends.

About you

When you join, youll need to have a valid Enhanced Check under the Disclosure and Barring Service. The great news is that we will pay for that to be done if you dont have a transferrable one.
