The Opportunity

 

The LSL Group has been engaged on an exclusive basis by the British Medical Association (BMA) to recruit a Group Chief Financial Officer, operating from the central London headquarters.

 

We are looking for a Group Chief Financial Officer whose strategic foresight and know-how will help shape how the BMAs proactively responds to membership needs and interactions. The individual will also need to possess the commercial and financial acumen required to strengthen the BMA Board, to review, challenge and have oversight of all of the Associations financial activities. The GCFO is a full member of the BMA Board.

 

This is an ideal position for an ambitious individual seeking to join the leading association in its field and contribute strategically as well as tactically to the performance of the organisation.

 

As Group CFO your responsibilities will include the motivation and leadership of a diverse range of teams including Finance, Estates, Conferences, Venues, Procurement and Compliance. You will also play a strategic role, working with the CEO and Board members on the direction of the Association.

 

Desired Skills and Experience

You will be a Qualified Accountant with proven CFO experience gained within an organisation of similar size and complexity, with group structures, ideally with some understanding of membership organisations. You will have developed financial strategies and have a good understanding of corporate governance and leading change. You must have experience in overseeing investment portfolios and pension schemes. The successful candidate will have experience leading the estates strategy and working with a diverse range of stakeholders.

 

Personal characteristics 

You will have strategic vision and a desire to innovate and challenge in a change environment. Entrepreneurial and commercially savvy you will have an inner drive to work collaboratively and possess a high level of emotional intelligence to be able to deal with multiple stakeholders including members, committees, Board members and external providers. A self-starter with gravitas and credibility, you will have excellent leadership, organisational and communication skills. You will be able to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines. Above all you will be a confident and motivational leader who can contribute broadly to the Association.
