Waking Nights Housing Concierge

Permanent, Part Time

Spot Salary of £17,600 pa, pro rata

£9.00 per hour if youd prefer to work on our bank on a casual basis

We have a fabulous opportunity for you to join our awesome team. At €œDurham Young Peoples Accommodation€ our aim is to provide supported accommodation to young people aged 16 35 years old, who are homeless or at risk of homelessness and in need of support to develop the skills needed to live independently in the community. Our service works hard to support our customers to work out what they want out of their lives and the journey that is required to enable them to reach their full potential.

€œDurham Young Peoples Accommodation€ consists of four separate buildings within South Durham Area: Grove Road (Core Building) in Brandon, 2 properties in Spennymoor, 1 property in Durham city area.

As our Housing Concierge youll play a really important role in supporting the smooth running of our service.  Youll make sure that our buildings and customers are safe and secure, and that we get on with our neighbours!

 

Youll get involved in lots of different activities which will include monitoring CCTV, regularly patrolling the premises, monitoring visitors to and from the building and ensuring tenancy conditions and service rules are adhered to. Youll also be our first point of contact for customers during the night and at times well also need you to do some general cleaning duties too.

 

About our team

Although youll work nights, we do get together regularly in the day time for training and team meetings. Youll be part of our wider team, who are super passionate about supporting customers to reach their goals and celebrating their achievements. To us were not just a team were a €œwork family€. Our manager is Robert Ingham, who has worked for Home Group for almost 10 years.

 

There are 9 of us in the team and we dont just love to support our customers, were there for each other too. We have 1 full time Support Coordinator, Becky who has been at the service for a few years now. We have 4 full time Support Workers - Emma, Connor, Beth and Rosie, each support worker bring something different to the team, but all very supportive of each other. We have Shizzy, who is the support worker level 1 who really enjoys customer involvement. We also have Colin who is the other housing Concierge who has worked at this service for 5 years and Sharon our cleaner.

 

Working hours

We provide 24-hour support to our customers each day and every day. In this role youll work during the twilight hours doing waking nights work. Youll work 4 days on 4 days off on a rota basis. We need you to be flexible to meet the needs of our customers, but we aim to give you the time you need to spend doing the things that matter to you!

 

Bank

Looking for a more flexible working pattern? You can also join us on a flexible basis by being part of our bank.  You can work hours that fit around your current commitments or even pick up some additional shifts to your main role to earn

some extra cash and get paid on a weekly basis.

 

About you

Youre passionate and motivated to help vulnerable people make positive and lasting changes to their lives. Youll impress us with your ability to work on your own initiative. To make sure that we keep our records straight, and customers safe, it's really important that you are technologically savvy or at the very least not a technophobe!

 

It would be amazing if you have worked in this type of environment before, however its your €œcan do€ positive attitude and enthusiasm that are critical to make this role a success. We can nurture your talent, just let us know in your cover letter why you have a passion for working here!

 

When you join, youll need to have a valid Enhanced Check under the Disclosure and Barring Service. The great news is that we will pay for that to be done if you dont have a transferrable one.
