Job Description

The Fellows of St Peters College, Oxford, intend to elect a new Head of House to take up office on 1 October 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter.

St Peter's was established in the 1920s to provide an Oxford education to those with potential but without the resources to afford a University Education. We remain committed to attracting and supporting students with the capacity to flourish - regardless of background or financial means. We know and celebrate the fact that our students have different talents, characters and backgrounds. They come here united by a desire to study at one of the worlds great universities and at a college that generates warmth and solidarity. The College offers its members opportunities to express their talents in many different fields.

St Peters is located in the heart of Oxford city centre. The medieval city walls border the modern student bar and glorious stone Georgian architecture from the 1790s rubs shoulders with bold modernism.

The post is a full-time position, based in Oxford.  Our new Head of House will have leadership skills which include energy, resilience and imagination, combined with the qualities of wide-ranging empathy, kindness and a sense of humour. These are what is needed to lead the College as a whole; but will also be essential for fundraising and building external relationships.  To this end, we will consider all backgrounds and seek an individual who has rapport with academics, staff and students, and who has an understanding of the challenges of Higher Education in the context of wider global concerns.
