Job Description

3-4 days per month / £12,910 per annum

The Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust employs around 7,000 staff and serves a core population of more than 400,000 people in Exeter, East Devon and Mid-Devon. In partnership with Exeter University we carry out cutting edge research into new treatments and improved understanding of disease. We admit more than 115,000 patients and hold 450,000 outpatient clinics every year, spending nearly £370 million a year on delivering high quality healthcare. With nationally and internationally recognised services including the Princess Elizabeth Orthopaedic Centre, the Centre for Women’s Health, Exeter Mobility Centre and Mardon Neuro-Rehabilitation Centre the RD&E has a long and proud history of delivering high quality healthcare to the communities it serves.

The Trust’s strategy is focused on ensuring that it provides safe, high quality and joined up health and care services delivered with courtesy and respect. This means maintaining sound operational delivery of existing clinical, research and teaching services but also integrating pathways of care within and beyond our acute hospital walls. To facilitate delivery of our strategic plans the Trust has decided to invest in a new clinically led transformation programme which is enabled by the introduction of new technology.

We are now seeking to appoint Non-Executive Directors who will help meet these challenges to maintain high quality services and cope with ever increasing demands within a changing healthcare landscape. You will bring senior level experience from complex organisations and a track record of engaging with a wide variety of stakeholders will be essential. Given the changing agenda, we are looking for large scale culture change experience, ideally in a digital transformation context for one post and a someone with strategic finance expertise to be part of the Audit Committee for the other. Above all, candidates will have the vision, independence of judgement and commitment to help deliver the highest quality healthcare possible.
