Help to build safer childhoods, stronger families and positive futures for the UKs most vulnerable children and young people

Barnardos, the largest childrens charity in the UK, is entering the third year of its ambitious ten-year strategy to transform the lives of the most vulnerable children in the UK.  Last year, our 8,000 staff and over 22,000 volunteers supported over 272,000 children, young people, parents and carers through over 1000 vital services and running over 700 stores in our UK-wide retail network.

We are at a pivotal point in our 152 year history as we re-imagine how we, as a society, care for our precious children and young people.  We are seeking a Director of People & Culture who is up for that challenge helping us to create the diverse and learning workforce of the future and drive culture change so that all of our staff and volunteers are empowered, engaged and proud to work for and with us.

In doing so, the successful candidates achievements will be instrumental in improving outcomes for the children, young people and their families that we support in diverse communities across the UK.

As well as leading the People team, the Director will act as a key strategic advisor to the Chief Executive and the Board of Trustees.

This is an exceptional opportunity for a high calibre cultural change and/or HR leader who combines strategic and operational leadership ability.  You will be highly skilled in driving and embedding organisational effectiveness/cultural change in line with corporate strategies.  With a demonstrable track record of delivering strategic impact through HR in a large and complex organisation, you will be a passionate and energetic leader.  Whatever your sector background, you will bring the skills, credibility and drive to play a key role in the next stage of Barnardos development.
