Job Description

Join our team of highly skilled professionals operating the ombuds service for student complaints in higher education. We are passionate about fairness, value higher education in all its forms and believe that complaints provide important learning to improve the higher education experience for all students.

The role

The capture and provision of accurate data internally and externally is central to our work. This is a new role in the organisation and we are looking for a dynamic individual to fulfil it.

As the Operations Analyst, you will liaise with internal teams and Higher Education providers to ensure their membership and subscription information is kept accurate and up to date across our systems. Among other things, this will involve gathering and analysing student number information and acting as the first point of contact for queries as well as seeing them through to resolution.

To succeed, you will have a proven track record in analysing and interpreting data using Excel to an advanced level, have a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail, and display excellent analytical, problem solving and communication skills. You will be highly numerate, interested in technology, confident in managing your own time, able to develop internal and external relationships and be able to cope with competing organisational objectives.

Previous experience or knowledge of MS Dynamics, MS SharePoint, financial systems and the widening Higher Education sector would be advantageous.

Who we are

The OIA is the designated operator of the student complaints scheme for higher education in England and Wales and is a recognised authority in developing good practice in the handling of student complaints. Since its inception in 2004 the OIA has grown significantly and earned the trust and respect of higher education providers, student organisations and Government. Since 2015, in addition to universities, alternative providers, FE colleges (for the higher education students) and providers of School-Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITTs) are also covered by the OIA Scheme. Following the Higher Education & Research Act 2017 there will be further expansion in the OIA’s membership in 2018.

We are a registered Charity, regulated by the Charity Commission, and a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee, governed by its Memorandum and Articles of Association.
