Are you a skilled, creative grassroots organiser and trainer with experience of divestment campaigning? If so then we?d love to hear from you.
Fossil fuel divestment is one of the world?s fastest growing and most successful environmental campaigns. We?re looking to build on divestment successes in the UK by increasing our support for local activists campaigning to get local authority pension funds to move their investments out of fossil fuel companies.
Purpose of the role
Friends of the Earth England, Wales and Northern Ireland supports local campaigners working to persuade local authority pension funds to divest their holdings in fossil fuel companies. Working closely alongside climate change campaigns and community organising staff you will use your knowledge of divestment campaigning and your experience in effective grassroots organising, to:
- Help local campaign groups increase their strength, capacity and ability to campaign
- Provide local campaign groups with the training, information and support on divestment issues they need to enable them to campaign effectively
- Support local campaign groups to connect and work with each other, helping to build regional, national and international networks of divestment campaigners.
Diversity and equal opportunities:
Friends of the Earth is an equal opportunities employer and we are especially keen to encourage applications from people currently under-represented in the environment movement including: black and minority ethnic people; disabled people; lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people; people with caring responsibilities and women in senior positions. Do contact us as we really do want you to see how you can become part of the Friends of the Earth team.
