Job Description

Competitive Salary We?re looking for a dynamic leader who is enthusiastic, passionate and visionary; who demands commitment and results but is able to lead and motivate their people with respect and empathy. We?re seeking a high performer with a credible track record in success. As well as being a specialist in your field, you will be responsible for shaping the vision for the Strategic Finance service, delivering results, managing performance and demonstrating accountability. As the Strategic Director of Finance you will lead the transformation of the Council?s financial policy and strategy, to enable the Council to continue on its Good to Great journey. You will carry the statutory responsibilities of the Council?s Section 151 Officer and lead a broad portfolio of services. We are looking for candidates to demonstrate a commercial approach that encourages innovation and provide critical counsel to Councillors, the Corporate Leadership Team and other senior colleagues. If this sounds like the opportunity you?ve been looking for, we?re excited to hear from you. A background in the private or public sector - or both - is welcomed. We also welcome applicants from black, minority, ethnic communities and disabled people as they are currently under represented within our workforce. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an assessment centre which will be held on the 11th of July, successful candidates from this will be recalled for final interview on 12th July 2017. It?s no coincidence that Nottingham was recently named in the Guardian as one of the happiest places to work in the UK. It?s an amazing city to live and work for a great many reasons? We've got one of the best public transport networks in the country with a recently extended tram system. We?re a top Ten European City for foreign investment and one of the cleanest cities in Europe. We're currently UNESCO City of Literature title holders. We've also been hailed by Rough Guides as a great city to visit in 2017 thanks to a burgeoning arts and music scene, a great shopping experience and fantastic food and drink venues. A great city deserves a great council which is what we strive to be. Closing date: Friday 30th June 2017 at 12 noon.
