Job Description

Immigration Enforcement Circa 130k Central London and Croydon Immigration has brought many benefits to the nation but those benefits are reliant on a strong and effective system which ensures that individuals with no right to remain in the UK are removed swiftly and efficiently. Illegal immigration harms local communities, economies and, as we have increasingly come to realise, can often harm vulnerable illegal immigrants who have fallen victim to criminal gangs. The scale of our challenge is immense. Increasing globalisation, together with Brexit, means the demands on the borders, immigration and citizenship system are changing and we need to ensure we can respond effectively. This is a challenging role ? but with this level of challenge comes huge potential. The Director General has the opportunity to make a lasting impact on an issue that matters to everyone in this country. We are looking for someone with strong law enforcement credentials, or substantial experience of working closely with law enforcement agencies, combined with an appetite to make a difference. Ultimately, success will depend on your ability to handle today?s operational pressures whilst also looking to the future. We need to build the clearest possible picture of what enforcement might look like in the medium and long-term, and to develop the plans to deliver it. Success in immigration enforcement will be heavily dependent on partnerships built with police forces across the UK and with other law enforcement agencies, so we need someone that can bring a strong track record of partnership working. This is a pivotal, senior leadership role that provides an opportunity to make a real difference, to shape the future of immigration enforcement, to maximise our efforts to control immigration abuse, and to protect the most vulnerable.
