Contract: Fixed Term f/t (37.5 hrs pw for 72 months) Location: Swindon Ends: Mar 26th Summary The National Trust looks after 350 historic houses, gardens and parks and more than 250,000 hectares of coast and countryside on behalf of the nation. We provide access to these beautiful, historic and natural places for everyone, for ever. In 2016, we had more than 20 million visits to our places and were supported by 4.7 million members, 60,000 volunteers and over 10,000 staff. But we know we need to do much more to truly serve the nation and to provide public benefit for everyone, from any background. We are now seeking to appoint a Head of Diversity and Inclusion to champion our mission to look after historic and beautiful places for everyone. We aim to be relevant and accessible to everyone, in every aspect of our work: from the experiences we provide and the stories we tell to the opportunities we offer to get involved in our work, as an employee or volunteer. Heelis is the Central Office for the National Trust; it was named after one of the Trusts biggest benefactors Mrs William Heelis, There are approximately 500 staff from across the Trust's directorates, including the Executive team and the Director General, are based here. Heelis was designed to be highly sustainable and has won a number of nationally recognised awards. Designed by Feilden Clegg Bradley Architects in 2005, this architectural gem uses timber from our woodlands and wool from Herdwick sheep grazed on Trust farmlands, to help make Heelis a unique working environment. What you'll be doing As Head of Diversity and Inclusion, you will define and set the strategic direction, work across the organisation to make it happen, and inspire others inside and outside the National Trust to engage with this important mission. We are seeking an organisational change agent with a broad perspective: someone used to working at a senior level to drive change in a medium to large sized company or charity. So if you're well connected, creative, collaborative and have an appetite for change we'd like to hear from you. Who we're looking for With a strong presence and outstanding interpersonal skills, you'll naturally inspire confidence and instil trust. You'll be comfortable challenging senior leaders where appropriate and be committed to achieving the best results. To achieve this you'll need: - Demonstrable experience of delivering significant cultural change across a multi-site organisation. - Experience of delivering diversity and inclusion agenda's in large organisations with a focus on results. - Exceptional influencing skills, ideally in a matrix management environment inspiring others to engage and work collaboratively. - The ability to work flexibly and at pace and to innovate and react to emerging thinking. - An up to date knowledge of diversity and inclusivity legislation.
