Job Description
The Direct Entry Inspector Programme is your opportunity to make the transition to senior police officer from a leadership role in the commercial, public or third sector. This is how.
You've led before; now lead beyond
You have proven your ability to lead and manage people and teams. You?re an adept business manager. And you know how to assess and manage risk. That gives you the key qualities required to be a police leader.
The Direct Entry programme gives you the chance to look beyond the limits of your current career ? and forge a new and exciting future in the Metropolitan Police.
London is a large, complex and culturally diverse city, which presents a wide variety of challenges. That?s why we?re looking for people with fresh ideas and perspectives ? professionals who have different experiences and learning from organisations outside the criminal justice system.
Join us and you will have the opportunity to harness your skills, experience and creativity to tackle your biggest challenges to date. You could soon impact on policing in one of the world?s great capitals, helping bring about fundamental, positive changes to police culture ? and giving something back to local communities.
The Direct Entry Programme
Being a police inspector with the Met is a varied, high profile and critical operational role - you will manage large teams of resources, supervise serious crime investigations and responses to critical incidents. We?ll give you comprehensive training, development and support to prepare you. The majority of your learning (c.70%) will be on the job, including rotations at constable, sergeant and inspector level, where you?ll gain exposure to different policing situations. You?ll also receive classroom training at a College of Policing site, as well as specific Met training to ensure you understand every aspect of this challenging role.
