Job Description

Founded in 1991, Business Disability Forum is a world-leading not-for-profit membership body of business and the public sector established to build disability-smart organisations. We are looking for a Chief Executive Officer who will be responsible for Business Disability Forums (BDF) success in achieving its vision and mission whilst working within the framework of its values and strategy set out by the Council. The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience of leading an organisation in a CEO/MD role or equivalent in a relevant sector, with a track record of innovation and change management. You will have proven leadership ability with strong people management skills to help our people perform against objectives and standards. Your business development skills, strengthened by your networking experiences will be key to this role. We are looking for a CEO with public affairs experience and superb communication skills across a range of media. The ideal candidate will be able to bring the following characteristics to the role: Creativity: an understanding of how an organisation can provide new ways of creating value for customers and how BDF can present itself in a more forward looking way. Leadership: inspirational and decisive. Being prepared to take forward ideas they believe in and work with others to develop them further. Resilience: persevering with ideas and taking knocks then rebounding back. Strategic thinking: seeing connections and thinking through a cohesive strategy for BDF and the disability agenda in general. Commercial awareness: advocating the aims of BDF whilst understanding and explaining the business case for dealing with disability as a business priority. Networked: a convincingly networked individual. Sympathetic: someone with experience in disability matters but certainly one who can demonstrate a sympathy and interest in the aims of BDF.
